This matters a great deal because Oxley was buried on Lot 19 and the location of Lot 19 held the key to finding the Ripley Lots 16 and 17. I now believe that the River Philip United Church is at Lot 14 and the Ripley lots are located between the church and the intersection of Windham Hill and Wyvern Roads, the approximate location of Oxley's original burial. Please see the updates I've made to the Yorkshire Grant and Lots 16 and 17 pages on this website.
I was beyond excited yesterday to finally make contact with newly-found 4th and 5th cousins who are very knowledgable about Ripley history and have been very helpful in clearing up the mystery of George Oxley's grave. Apparently it is true that George Oxley was originally buried elsewhere and then his grave was moved to the River Philip United Church.

Hi, My grandmother was Adelaide Ripley (Springhill) I was doing research some years ago (and have forgotten a lot ,although I have tons of notes!) coming across this great website is very interesting!! I believe your info on the Providence is not correct, I can find the notes, I have John Skinner as capt. I believe it was on its first whaling trip to Davis Strait, there are records of how much they caught. I took a trip to Ingleby Greenhow and have some photos if you are interested, inside the church and some gravestones. Mary daughter of Thomas and Mary, William Coates, William Ripley 1759, Thomas Ripley, Robert Ripley 1739. Well let me know if you are interested.

Hello, I am the nephew of Janet Read Nelson, who passed on March 1 2023. I have accepted the genealogy torch from her and have spent the last year sorting through her research and loading it into an electronic filing system. The last phase is the very large collection of research from the READs and RIPLEYs, and this is when I came across your RIPLEY web page. Spectacular! It sure has been a help sorting out what is known about this arm of the family.
