Will of William Pipes Sr.
William Pipes Sr. made a will in December 1792 leaving the following bequests:
To his son-in-law John Parkinson of Wilbur near Kirkbymoorside in Yorkshire 10 pounds sterling. In the event of John's death to be paid to his sister Thomasine Lowther, wife of Thomas Lowther.
To Thomasine Lowther, wife to Thomas Lowther of Oswal Kirk Yorkshire for the education of her children 40 pounds sterling
To his granddaughter Sarah, daughter of his son Jonathan, all his sheep, his mare and her followers, bed and bedding, curtain rod and curtains, and a large pewter dish. An entry for granddaughters Sarah and Thomasine is crossed out, then Thomasine written in above the line for Sarah, but it is not clear what was intended.
To his son William Pipes, marsh lots in Amherst #49 and #35, 2 100-acre wood lots #34,35 and 1 45-acre lot #34 but if #34 should join or be near to #51 belonging to Jonathan, then William shall have #35 in lieu.
To his sons William and Jonathan, 4 town lots in Amherst to be equally divided
To Jonathan an additional 10 pounds to be paid by William
To Jonathan, the rest of his land tenements and hereditaments
William and Jonathan were appointed co-executors and William Sr. signed with his mark.
