William was the son of John Henry Ripley and Amelia Cove, grandson of Henry Ripley and Mary Fawcett, and great grandson of Robert Ripley and Isabella Bean. William was married to Olivia Knowlton (1832-1911). Estate papers include William's will, in which he makes bequests of cash and real estate to his widow and children. Descriptions of the property boundaries are included. The will of William Herbert Ripley of Brookdale is included by mistake on image 142.

Estate files of William Coates Ripley (1849-1917) of Maccan.
William was the son of Robert Ripley (1810-1865) and Rebecca Vickery (1818-1903), grandson of William Ripley and Hannah Coates, great grandson of Robert Ripley and Isabella Beane. William married Cynthia P. Pipes (1856-1918). According to family story, Cynthia died of heartbreak the year after losing William. According to probate papers, William left an estate valued at about $5000 but did not leave a will. The papers indicate that son Carl E. Ripley paid almost $1000 in debts owed but did not specify how the remainder of the estate was divided. However, Carl did inherit (or purchase) the family home and property (see Homestead of William Ripley and Hannah Coates on this website.

John Brown Ripley was the son of William Ripley and Mary Scott Brown, grandson of Robert Ripley and Jane Rushton, and great grandson of Robert Ripley and Isabella Beane. John Brown Ripley married first Caroline Boss (1842-1871) and second Jane Ripley (1847-1933). Papers include the will which designated widow Jane Ripley as his executrix and sole heir. The will mentions a "home property" on the west side of the road from Springhill to Rodney.

His wife was Margaret Dickie (1823-1899). Margaret's brother the Hon. Robert Barry Dickie was a father of Confederation.

James was the son of Joseph Black Ripley and Charlotte Johnson, grandson of John Thomas Ripley and Margaret Donkin, and great grandson of Robert Ripley and Isabella Beane. James was married first to Lavinia P. Ralston (1838-1903) and second to Margaret McLellan (1836-). The probate papers, filed by his son Louis, simply indicate that James did not leave a will and provide an estimate of his personal and real estate.

She was married first to Oman Lewis (1823-) and second to Alfred Coates Fullerton (1862-1948). In her will she left her real estate and personal property to her husband and made provision for her adopted children Minnie and Laura.

Amos left cash bequests to nieces and nephews including Laura Mae (Ripley) Fullerton (1876-1961), Frederick T. Ripley (1878-1955), and Alton W. Ripley (1883-1962). He also left the remainder of his real estate to Alton W. Ripley but no details were provided. It is unknown whether Amos still retained ownership of the "home place" at this time or whether he had sold it prior to moving to Springhill.
