My newly-discovered second cousin, Robert T. Ripley, a great grandson of Robert Salter Ripley through son James Trueman Ripley, was told that Edith continued to run a general store at the corner of Ripley Street and County Road after Robert Salter Ripley's death. He believes it is now Hinchey's Market. Robert also told me that Edith is buried up on a hill new New Waterford in a place called Scotchtown. It is possible to view a photo of Edith's gravestone in Union Grove Cemetery online.
Edith is buried with her adopted daughter Emma (Heffler) Ripley (1919-1938). I first learned about this Emma when I viewed the gravestone online. Her death certificate is viewable online. Edith's husband Robert Salter Ripley had died in 1928 and Emma had been living with Edith for 9 years prior to 1938 so Edith likely became the girl's foster mother in the year after her husband's death.
