I hope to tie up some loose ends that I've mentioned on the Research Needed page of this website. I'm starting a To Do list to keep myself organized. But I'll no doubt go down some rabbit holes and open new cans of worms! A small piece of advice to those flying in to do research in the Amherst area. I've found that selection and prices of flights in and out of Moncton are generally better than out of Halifax. Car rentals are definitely cheaper, especially if you rent from a downtown location in Moncton instead of the airport. And off-season rates are great! I love being retired!
I'm very excited to announce that I've just booked a trip back east in September. I'm making a nice loop from Moncton NB that includes tracking down the grave of Thomas Coates in Smith's Creek NB enroute to a watercolour workshop in St. Andrews by the Sea NB, a ferry over to Digby NS, visits to cousins in Windsor and Halifax, research at the Halifax Archives, and a brief stop in Amherst to visit distant cousins there and take some photographs of Robert and Henry's homesteads. It might be a little early for fall colours but I couldn't pass up the chance to paint en plain air with Poppy Balser.
