While I was in the Maccan area I also took more photographs of the house where my grandmother was born right next to the Maccan Bridge. I also photographed graves in the Nappan Methodist Cemetery. I was pleased to see that the Michael Fortune Cemetery had been mowed as it was quite overgrown on my two previous visits. When I mentioned this to Barb Reid later she said, "You're welcome."
5th cousin Eleanor Ripley and I had made plans to have a quiet dinner at Joey's in Sackville since it was open mike night at Duncan's Pub. So we set off in late afternoon for a visit to Fort Beausejour and a tour of Sackville. At Fort Beausejour, we drove down to the area where descendants of the Yorkshire immigrants re-enacted their arrival at Fort Cumberland during the Yorkshire Reunion in 2000 At Sackville we found the original Fawcett farm when we stopped to ask directions from some folks who turned out to be Fawcett descendants. We also stumbled on the Methodist Burying Ground where Charles Dixon and his wife Susannah are buried. Susannah's epitaph records that she was a native of Yorkshire. Charles Dixon had written quite an interesting account of his family's arrival and first impressions of the area which I read to Eleanor en route to Joey's. And people say we don't know how to have fun.
