On Family Day, I started thinking about why I focus so much on my Ripley ancestors but haven't delved as deeply into the Coates and Pipes families. So I decided to update my research on the homestead of William Pipes Jr. and Elizabeth Oldfield. I've created a new page that includes a link to their original lease of the property, William's Will, and information on the eventual purchase of the lease by three of his sons. In the process, I discovered an approximate death date for Elizabeth Oldfield. William's will stipulated that his property be divided among his four sons after his wife's death. In 1813, son William sold his share to his other three brothers. The deed mentions that Elizabeth had died. See Homestead of William Pipes Jr. and Elizabeth Oldfield on this website for details.
