In his will, Henry Ripley (1762-1835) had left the land on which he then resided in Nappan to his son Joseph. In 1870, Thomas R. Ripley, his second wife Matilda E. Frazer and his brother Stephen B. Ripley, sold a parcel of land to Abijah Higgs that was the farm of their late father Joseph Ripley. Details and photos of the area have been added to the Homestead of Henry Ripley page on this website.

Upon his death in 1797, Robert Ripley willed the 500-acre Luke Harrison's Farm to his own son Robert Ripley. When Robert Ripley Jr. died around 1843, he willed half of the property to his son Thomas and half to a Charles Story, parent of his granddaughter and ward Sarah Story. A few years later, Thomas sold his half to Jamison Brown and Charles Story sold his half to Thomas Brown. Then Jamison Brown, who had married Sarah Story, sold the land he had acquired back to Thomas Ripley and Charles Story. Thomas and Charles subsequently sold their properties to Joseph Hoeg. By 1853, the property had passed out of the Ripley family. Details and photos have been added to the Luke Harrison's Farm page of this website. |
AuthorHi there! My name is Mallory Burton and I started researching the Ripley family in 2011. I'd describe myself as a careful amateur who's more interested in story than names and dates. I hope you enjoy my website and blog. I also have a public Mallory/Ripley tree on Ancestry with over 4,000 names. To contact me, please comment on any one of my blog posts. Archives
